NEED NEW YEAR’S EVE PLANS? LOOK NO FURTHER

What is RAAM?
The Race Across America (RAAM), is a 3000-mile (4,282km) transcontinental race starting on the west coast on Oceanside California and heading east.
The Difficulty
The RAAM is known for probably being the toughest ultra-cycling event in the World. It’s been going for 34 years and it’s entered by groups of 2, 4 or 8 in a relay team, or what is seen as the pinnacle of the ultra ride for the solo riders.
A LIFE IN EXTREMES
Wow – just watched a documentary on Netflix called ‘Attention: A Life in Extremes’… what an eye-opener. If you still don’t quite understand what it means to cycle across America, you should check this film out. It’s an hour and a half long and the documentary follows a wingsuit flyer, a freediver, and an extreme cyclist. The extreme cyclist does the Race Across America as a soloist and it is totally awing. It was even an eye-opener for me to witness the Support Crew in action. I don’t think I totally knew what I was signing myself up for when I volunteered for that!!

NEED NEW YEAR’S EVE PLANS? LOOK NO FURTHER
Join us on New Year’s Eve to launch Team RAAMIN-4-Charity’s efforts for the epic 2016 Race Across America. Phil, Tom, and Daniel not only intend on cycling across America next year… they intend on breaking records while they’re at it. That being said training is going to be intense, and I’m sure that close friends and family members know what that means… if you don’t, let me fill you in: Unless you’re intending to spend the first six months of 2016 on a bike, you’re not going to see these guys until July.

So – want to party with your friends while they’re still fun? Come to our NYE party. Also, all proceeds will go towards supporting the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. This party has it all… part fundraiser, part kick-off event, part farewell event and 100% the best place to be for New Year’s Eve this December.

Please spread the word – the more the merrier! Give us a shout if you’re interested in tickets. We’ll post more on the venue and ticket price over the next few weeks.

FUNDRAISING FIRST
I’m still trying to fully comprehend just how absolutely nuts my boyfriend is for signing up for RAAM. Racing Across America… on a bike… in the heat of the summer… like really?

Rather than looking dumbfounded while he and the other nutcases sort out their training regimes and racing tactics, myself and the other sensible ladies have started brainstorming fundraising ideas. We’ve got a lot of great ideas, so now we need to sort out how and when we can execute them.

There are about seven months until race day… so I think we’ll have around five active months of fundraising (assuming the first month will be spent promoting our initiatives and the last month will be spent getting ready for the event itself).

We’ve got some pretty amazing causes we’re supporting…
1. Little Bleeders
2. Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity
3. Aplastic Anaemia Trust
If you’re interested in taking part in our upcoming fundraising events (details to follow shortly), please feel free to get in contact with me, Suzanne or Liv.

These guys might be nuts for cycling across America, but at least they’re sensible enough to fundraise for some great causes along the way. Not sure it justifies they’re nutcase-ness, but we’ll go with it!
